2012 Words to Live By: Alkalize

Posted by: on Feb 1, 2012 | 2 Comments

Welcome to the third installment of my words to live by for twenty twelve! I had one too many drinks last night in celebration of a friend’s birthday, but nonetheless, sprung out of bed this morning feeling super juicy with oxygen and inspiration, ready to settle into a day of writing, breathing and reading {also, a cheeky snowboarding session}. As many of you know, I’ve dived head first into the transition of a plant based diet, and have found the experience fun and joyous and not least of all rewarding. While I am constantly learning about my relationship with my plate, now is as good a time as ever for me {and you!} to really step things up. Let’s get green and alkalize!

Now, I’m not going to get into the nitty gritty of alkalinity, I’m going to leave it to this babe who, nearly ten years ago found out she had cancer. She turned the camera on herself and made this documentary, starting a revolution. Soon after she wrote inspiring ‘bibles’ for people living with cancer, but in 2010, turned her attention mainstream and wrote this book

… and then subsequently made this sassy, pHabulous video…

So, now that you’re well acquainted with one of the women who has helped me shape the dietary, health and ethical decisions I make, it’s time for me to throw words at you that I think of and feel when I talk about alkalinity…

Kris Carr rocks – love her. And vegetables are indeed sexy! :) A day without greens just doesn’t feel right! Hope your friend’s birthday party was tons of fun – sometimes it’s nice to kick back with a few brews and good company.
